Coming Soon!
With Urban Picnic fast approaching (less than one month away!), we have tons of information to share with you. We've been visiting new restaurants, we have an emcee for the event, silent auction items are coming in and wine sponsors have been knocking on our door. And we say to all the generosity and bounty, thank you and keep it coming!

Webster House
We snuck into the Webster House for the very first time earlier this month and had some gorgeous happy hour snacks before venturing out for First Friday. For other "firsties" like us, Webster House offers the unique combination of antiques and dining in one beautiful historic building. Listed on the National Register of Historical Places, Webster House was originally a school house built over 125 years ago.
They recently started dinner service and we're so glad we got the chance to check them out. But that small taste wasn't enough. We are definitely going back there for a full dinner and maybe some shopping. Wallet, watch out!

We are always super-excited to see Kansas City growing. With all the construction cones, cranes and demolition going on, it's nice to have the history of Webster House reminding us to appreciate the old with the new. Parking is one problem you're not going to have, we walked past at least three lots.

Lucky me, Boulevard was there doing a free tasting. I tried a bit of the Tank 7 (like I don't already know that it is one of my all-time favorites!) and a seasonal Belgian-style.

What's up, Doc? Some mouth-watering rabbit.

And predictably, my Irish husband had the fish 'n chips,

Le Fou Frog
Our culinary journey took us to the River Market on a quiet Sunday evening to the one and only Le Fou Frog. Low, romantic lighting was disturbed only by the random flashes of our camera as we tried to capture the perfection of "le Français." Apologies for the flashy glare on some of the food pics.
Thank you, Jason, for taking such good care of us. The other camera was not working as well as we'd hoped so we'll have to catch your beautiful mug on another day! Update: It turned out great so here you are! Isn't he adorable?
We'd also like introduce our first video entry. Okay, it's dark and you can't see anything, but you know how first times can be. :)
Urban Picnic weekend is busy, busy, busy for Le Fou Frog, what with a fundraiser, a wedding and the KCO signature event, but we got squeezed in. Success! They're bringing charcuterie (housemade pâté, saucisson, fromages). Yum, yum, yum, we can't wait!

Have a Seat
I picked up these Adirondack chairs from a garage sale last summer for $2 each! They were a little wobbly, but after we left them out in the cold and snow all winter, they were a mess. But not for much longer. Thanks to George Vial for bringing these back to life (with help from Stuart Brown of Tudor Woodworks) and for painting everything a beautiful glossy white. These are going to be the perfect place to sit and relax at Urban Picnic, with a glass of wine in your hand and the city at your feet. Can you see it?
One of the chairs with its first coat of primer. Looks so much better already. Check back tomorrow to see it all shiny and new.
Pinwheels
This Kate Spade video had me thinking pinwheels for Urban Picnic. Do we have enough time to make these? Well, we can certainly try! via Style Me Pretty
Who's Waiting?
I won't either. Wait, that is. We're almost at the half way point for the Napa Valley raffle! I've got my ticket purchased, do you? "Warning" by Little Black Fences via Design Crush .

La Bodega
Welcome, La Bodega, to this year's Urban Picnic! We stopped by this weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday and as usual, had a great time. There's something so celebratory about sitting around a big table passing around delicious food with good friends, isn't there?
A birthday treat.

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY
Urban Picnic is a rain or shine event....but we definitely don't want it to rain! Print by Deedee Adams via freshly blended.
Awash in White
Wouldn't all these lovely white objects be wonderful at the picnic? Thanks Blomma Finds for introducing us to South of Market.
Sponsor - Boulevard Brewing Co.
If memory serves me correctly, Boulevard Brewery has been the official beer sponsor since year one when Urban Picnic was hosted by Zin. Recently, Boulevard spearheaded Ripple Glass, a city-wide glass recycling program (Kansas and Missouri). AND they make amazing beer. We are so proud and so lucky to have them in Kansas City. Thank you for your continued support of The Kansas City Originals and Urban Picnic!

Kokopelli Mexican Cantina
Kokopelli's is one Kansas City Original restaurant that I've never had the pleasure of visiting. Whether you're a frequent guest or a first time customer, I have a special deal to share with you...Kokopelli's is featured on GROUPON today!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Groupon, it's a "daily deal at unbeatable prices through the power of group buying." They send you emails every morning and you decide if you want to be part of "the deal." I've already gotten a ton of great "steals" through Groupon (hotel room at the Hotel Phillips, gift certificate to Birdies, salon and spa days, yoga classes). You do have to sign up and register (free) to get this buying power, but I definitely think it's worth it.
My Kokopelli's Groupon is purchased, I can't wait to have dinner there soon! Click here to see their menus and daily specials.

Carlo's Copa Room
Over the next few weeks, we'll be spotlighting some of the restaurants participating in this year's Urban Picnic. For our very first restaurant post, we'd like to introduce Carlo's Copa Room. We haven't confirmed what they're bringing to the picnic, but we did have an amazing lunch at there today. I had the Sloppy Joey (all lunches are served with your choice of soup or salad), the bread was so soft and the cheese was gooey and yummy. Click here to see all their menus.
